As the Production Manager you will be instrumental in maintaining our commitment to delivering high quality products, on time, every time, exceeding customer expectations. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth operation of our production and warehouse area’s.
What you’ll be doing:
Leading and empowering - Manage and motivate a team of 20+ shop floor staff, over 8 manufacturing processes.
Supporting New Starters - Ensure all new employees receive thorough inductions in line with company standards.
Planning and Coordination - Plan in customer orders using a Microsoft Excel based production schedule, to ensure timely and efficient workflow. Monitor production progress, marking as complete when jobs are finished.
Driving Production Performance - Break down production orders into multiple Excel planning documents, clearly outlining requirements for each department and drive tasks through each department.
Optimising Efficiency - Issue work sheets to each department, generated from the planning documents, in the order required by the overall production plan and move around as and when required.
Staff Management - Allocate and reassign staff internally across departments in line with changing production requirements. Plan and manage shopfloor labour levels, including the use of agency staff, as required, to meet demand. Manage shopfloor disciplinary matters in line with company policies and procedures.
Effective Communication - Liaise with other departments to ensure smooth production flow and timely resolution of issues.
Data-Driven Decision Making - Hold production meetings, providing relevant data and insights to support informed decision-making.
Maintaining High Standards - Ensure the site is consistently organised and tidy, establishing daily routines for clearing non-essential items.
Championing Health & Safety - Monitor and enforce Health & Safety policies and procedures, actively participating in H&S meetings, ensuring risk management, and overseeing accident investigations and appropriate actions.
Flexibility - Undertake any other duties reasonably requested to ensure the efficient operation of the business.
What you’ll bring:
Proven experience in a Production Manager or supervisory role within a manufacturing environment
Strong planning and organisational skill, with the ability to manage multiple schedules and priorities
High level of competence using Microsoft Excel for production planning and tracking
Experience co-ordinating multiple departments within a manufacturing operation
Strong people management skills, including staff allocation, supervision and disciplinary management
Ability to adapt quickly to changing production demands and make effective decisions under pressure
Good communication skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions and liaise effectively at all levels
A practical, hands-on approach with a strong focus on efficiency, quality and delivery
Hours of Work:
Monday to Thursday: 7.45am to 5pm
Friday: 8am to 1pm.
But MUST be prepared to work outside these hours as and when required
Salary: £32,500 per annum
