Multi-Trade Operative – Croydon
Salary: £38,000 per annum

We are currently recruiting an experienced Multi-Trade Operative to join a responsive repairs and maintenance team working across social housing properties in and around the Croydon area.
This is a permanent role carrying out multi-skilled duties, with a core trade background in Carpentry or Plumbing, supported by a broad range of additional skills to deliver a first-time fix service.

Key Responsibilities
Carry out multi-trade repairs and maintenance in occupied and void properties
Complete works safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
Self-manage workload and ensure quality of own work
Accurately complete job records and administrative tasks using PDA systems
Communicate professionally with tenants, colleagues, and other trades
Ensure all works comply with Health & Safety requirements
Identify additional works, safeguarding issues, or recharge items and report accordingly
Work in line with risk assessments, training, and company procedures
Core Trade Requirement You must hold one recognised base trade qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 or equivalent), or have demonstrable experience in Carpentry or Plumbing, plus additional multi-trade skills.

Patch plaster repairs and surface preparation
Wall preparation and lining paper
Painting of walls, ceilings, and woodwork
Plastering
Patch repairs and full skim finishes
Plasterboarding, scrimming, and rendering
Ceramic Tiling
Wall and floor tiling, including preparation, fixing, grouting, and cutting
Glazing / UPVC
Single pane glazing and repairs
Replacement of handles, hinges, seals, and basic unit overhauls
Groundworks
Fencing repairs and renewals
Brickwork repairs and small walls
Manhole repairs and renewals
Essential Skills & Experience
Good standard of literacy and numeracy
Basic IT skills and ability to use a PDA system
Strong customer service and communication skills
Reliable, punctual, and thorough approach to work
Excellent understanding of Health & Safety
Ability to meet deadlines and performance targets
Full, clean UK driving licence
Desirable Experience
Previous experience working in social housing
Housing or building maintenance knowledge
Ability to assess jobs and implement effective repair solutions
