Behaviour Support Assistant

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 3:30pm
Pay rate: £13.75 per hour
Contract: Full-time, ongoing
Are you passionate about supporting children who need additional guidance to thrive in school? A welcoming and supportive primary school in Preston is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team from February 2026.
About the Role:
We are looking for someone who can provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils who present challenging behaviour. You will work closely with teaching staff and the SEN team to help pupils regulate their emotions, engage positively in learning, and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing consistent behaviour support to pupils throughout the school day
Using de-escalation strategies and proactive behaviour management techniques
Supporting pupils emotionally and academically to improve engagement
Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
Contributing to behaviour plans and pupil progress reviews
Essential Requirements:
Previous experience supporting children with challenging behaviour
Ability to build trusting, positive relationships with pupils
Confident using behaviour management strategies
Calm, patient, and resilient approach
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
