Working on behalf of a secondary school with sixth form based in Stratford we are looking for a Facilities Assistant. Hours 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday paying £14.50 per hour PAYE. School term times.

Purpose of the Role
The School Facilities Assistant supports the day-to-day operation, safety and upkeep of the school site, ensuring a clean, secure and well-maintained environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
The role is non-teaching and focuses on facilities, health and safety, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
Site & Facilities Support

Assist with the daily opening and closing of the school site

Carry out basic maintenance and minor repairs

Support room set-ups for lessons, events and exams

Monitor and maintain cleanliness and tidiness of communal areas

Report maintenance issues to the Site or Facilities Manager
Health, Safety & Security

Ensure site safety procedures are followed
-
Conduct routine health and safety checks
-
Monitor fire exits and emergency equipment
-
Assist with site security and access control
-
Support emergency procedures when required
Grounds & Environment
-
Support upkeep of outdoor areas and play spaces

Assist with waste management and deliveries
-
Help maintain a safe and welcoming school environment
Support Duties

Assist with furniture movement and deliveries

Support contractors and visitors on site

Provide general operational support as required
Safeguarding Responsibilities

Uphold the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies

Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with pupils

Report any safeguarding concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Person Specification
Essential
-
Experience in facilities, caretaking, site support or maintenance
-
Practical skills and willingness to carry out manual tasks
-
Awareness of health and safety procedures
-
Reliable, flexible and able to work independently
-
Understanding of safeguarding in a school environment
Desirable
-
Previous experience working in a school or educational setting
-
Basic DIY or maintenance qualifications
-
Health & safety training (e.g. COSHH, manual handling)
Working Conditions

May involve early mornings, evenings or split shifts

Manual handling may be required

Some lone working may occur
