Civils Labourer Training Opportunity (Progression to Jointer's Mate)
Our client operates one of the largest Street Lighting Contracting businesses in the UK, with a strong presence across the East and West Midlands and the North West of England. They work closely with local authorities throughout these regions and, as a leading Independent Connections Provider (ICP), deliver connection and jointing services for some of the UK's largest housing developers. Their work also spans both Distribution Network Operator (DNO) and Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) networks nationwide.
We are seeking a motivated Civils Labourer to join the team, offering a clear training pathway to become a Jointer's Mate. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with proven digging and groundwork experience who is looking to develop a long-term career in street lighting and electrical networks.
What the Role Involves
As a Civils Mate, you will:
Carry out excavation and reinstatement works on footpaths, new-build sites, and existing roads (digging experience is essential).
Support jointers by preparing joint holes and assisting with cable jointing activities.
Learn safe working practices for jointing operations and electrical networks.
Assist with the installation and maintenance of street lighting and highway electrical equipment.
Drive and operate company vehicles relevant to the role.
Follow risk assessments, method statements, and all health & safety procedures.
Work as part of a team while developing the skills to work more independently over time.
Support ICP connection projects and highway lighting works across regional locations.

Essential Requirements
Full UK driving licence
