A Learning Support Assistant role within an autism-specialist school offers the opportunity to:
- Support autistic pupils on an individual and small-group basis, developing a deep understanding of neurodiversity
- Learn and apply autism-specific approaches such as visual timetables, structured routines, sensory strategies, and communication support
- Observe psychological and behavioural principles in practice, including emotional regulation, behaviour support, and trauma-informed approaches

Candidate profile

- A patient, empathetic, and calm approach when supporting pupils with additional needs
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils who may experience social or communication challenges
- A genuine commitment to helping learners progress at their own pace
- A proactive, reflective attitude and willingness to learn within a specialist setting
