Motor Trade Combined Trading Underwriter - ManchesterWe have an exciting opportunity to join our Underwriting Team as a Motor Trade Underwriter! What are the core responsibilities?Build and maintain strong relationships with a defined group of brokers while developing new regional broker connections.Apply Covea’s technical underwriting rates and criteria accurately across all risks, referring cases beyond authority to senior underwriters.Contribute to Covea’s annual financial plan by managing renewals, mid-term adjustments (MTAs), and handling new business enquiries.Deliver high-quality service through efficient processing and administration of commercial combined renewals and MTAs.Uphold agreed service levels for internal and external customers while maintaining accurate audit trails in Covea systems.Stay current on commercial property and liability markets, regional broking trends, and relevant legislation or litigation impacting underwriting. What you’ll need to succeed: Strong knowledge of general insurance underwriting principles, with the ability to accurately process property‑biased risks and escalate when required.Proven experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with both internal teams and external brokers.Solid awareness of market trends, legal developments, and industry changes impacting commercial insurance.Excellent communication skills (written and oral), combined with strong problem‑solving abilities, prioritisation, and deadline management.High level of accuracy and attention to detail, supported by strong PC and systems proficiency; proactive and innovative in approach.Professionally qualified to A Level standard (minimum Grade C in Maths & English GCSE), with CII progression preferred.
