Workshop Operative ( Temp to Perm)
THIS ROLE IS CURRENTLY BASED IN WELWYN GARDEN CITY BUT THE WAREHOUSE WILL BE MOVING TO BEDFORD IN FEBRUARY.
Location: Welwyn Garden City
Salary: £12.21 ph
Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday 8.00 - 16.30
About the Role
We’re looking for a dedicated Workshop/Bench Engineer to join our team in Welwyn Garden City. This role focuses on repairing, servicing, and maintaining wheelchairs to ensure service users receive reliable, high-quality mobility support.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out repairs, servicing, and maintenance as directed by the Service Centre Manager, Warehouse Supervisor, or Line Manager.

Complete all associated paperwork accurately and on time.

Ensure all warranty and scrap returns are correctly labelled and processed daily.

Adhere to infection control policies at all times.

Undertake engineering work, including service, repairs, and refurbishments, in accordance with prescription builds.

Support clinical appointments with healthcare professionals when needed.

Perform administrative duties as required.

Ensure all parts used are allocated correctly through the Stores process.

Maintain compliance with Ross Care’s operational procedures and housekeeping standards.

Maintain a professional approach — including appearance, tools, and workspace.

Uphold accountability for all aspects of the role and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.

Participate in stocktakes as required.

Follow all company policies, procedures, and instructions.
