Job Description
The purpose of this role is to deliver professional People Relations Advisory support to key stakeholders and colleagues within the business and broader People Function. You will actively manage issues as they arise, take ownership of the employee life cycle for the relevant business areas and/or geographic location(s), and be the first line of advice to the business areas in your remit. You will play an active role in creating an energizing and cohesive workplace environment, actively flagging opportunities to improve processes and business outcomes.
You will interface with relevant stakeholders and People teams to provide People Relations Advisory Support across brands and sites within relevant business areas and/or geographic location(s), ensuring De Beers Group operates within legal requirements and in the spirit of the brand. You will have proven experience in building strong working relationships and providing advice on any organizational change, employee relations, and people-related issues within stakeholder teams, including matters relating to employment, compensation and benefits, and first-line employee relations.
Key Tasks:
- People Operations:
- Support People agenda projects (culture, behavior, organizational change).
- Interface with the wider People Operations team to ensure smooth operations.
- Compliance and Legal:
- Monitor legislation changes and ensure compliance.
- Maintain Employee Handbooks and Policies in line with local laws.
- Support statutory documentation and question business scenarios from an immigration and tax perspective.
- People Partner and ER Support:
- Provide first-level advice on key people management/HR processes.
- Develop and maintain People processes and procedures.
- Support the roll-out of People initiatives and consistent implementation of People strategies.
- Leadership Development:
- Contribute to the coaching and development of business stakeholders and line managers by providing ER advice and guidance.
- Support the development of leadership training material.
- Employee Communication and Engagement:
- Support People initiatives and the Employee Engagement Survey process.
- Assist in the delivery of local training (e.g., on ER processes).
- Talent Attraction:
- Ensure timely completion of offer documentation and screening processes.
- Conduct process reviews to identify improvement opportunities.
- Team Management Support:
- Role model the right behaviors and contribute to a positive work environment.
Qualifications
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification (Degree/Diploma) in HR/IR.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar HR function or role within the mining industry.
- Experience in an HR Advisor role preferred.
- Proficiency in Success Factors HRIS system and Microsoft Office (SAP and Nav+).
Technical Skills:
- Ability to work under pressure with conflicting priorities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good knowledge of ER management with pragmatic solutions in mind.
- Strong analytical thinking, data management, and interpretation skills.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
Soft Skills:
- Customer service focused with high accountability.
- Ability to adhere to confidential parameters.
- Agile mindset, results-oriented.
- Strong team spirit and ability to build credible relationships.
