An exciting opportunity exists at Nampak Metals-Springs for a Technical Manager. This position reports to the General Manager and is graded at a Peromnes06 level.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overall responsibility for the technical control and maintenance of plant.
- Management of internal processes of the Technical department, ensuring that:
- The planned maintenance programme is correctly implemented and controlled in line with the Nampak Metals standards and budgets.
- Line efficiencies, spoilage losses and consumables consumption levels are optimized.
- All downtime is analysed and preventative action taken to minimise it.
- Quality of workmanship is to be to the desired standard.
Continuously improving and optimising processes by effective analysis and implementation of systems and procedures to maximize equipment availability.
- Management of utilities, viz. water, power and gas.
- Driving quality and ensure electrical and mechanical standards are enforced.
- Optimising maintenance spend and keeping to agreed budget levels.
- Optimising spares stock holding through regular reviews of reorder level and frequencies.
- Management of Safety, Health, Environment and Risk for the operation.
- Management of human capital in the Technical Department.
- Compiling monthly and weekly reports on maintenance effectiveness and expenditure.
- Responsible for building and general services maintenance.
- Management of suppliers and service contracts.
- Management of capital and capex projects together with the Divisional Technical Department.
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Government Certificate of Competence (GCC).
- A minimum of 5 years’ manufacturing experience in a Senior Production or Engineering role.
- Sound planning and organizing, leadership, business management, people management, coaching, mentoring, performance management and analytical skills.
- Be systematic in solving people/process/technical problems.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Able to demonstrate excellent project/process/people management skills.
- Experience in Canmaking will be an advantage.
- Have integrity, high energy levels and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Advanced level of computer literacy.
