The Role
As the PMO Reporting Lead, you will drive portfolio reporting excellence and support teams and stakeholders with the execution of the reporting framework, approach, and processes for all projects and programmes across the portfolio. Your primary responsibility will be to provide accurate and reliable reports that depict the progress across the Product, Technology, and Data portfolio of projects, including status, milestones, key risks, and decisions needed. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of portfolio management, flexibility in managing and collating progress across multiple projects, and the ability to transform complex data into actionable insights.
Responsibilities:
- Generate reports and manage report templates:
- Collect, organize, and compile project data into a series of reports that are distributed on a timely basis to the leadership team.
- Develop and maintain meaningful reporting templates and dashboards which incorporate projects performance, financial updates, and resourcing allocations.
- Recommend effective ways of structuring the data in different views to enable leadership strategic decision making, facilitating clear visibility into project and portfolio health.
- Monitor report completion for accuracy and consistency of data.
- Support leadership with the preparation of updates and management reporting packs.
- Build relationships and collaboration:
- Build strong relationships with portfolio and product stakeholders across the organization to ensure the integrity and relevance of reporting data.
- Act as a trusted advisor to product and project managers, offering data-driven insights and recommendations to enhance project performance and alignment with organizational goals.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and transparency by ensuring reporting is a shared and valued tool for project success.
- Data and analytics:
- Analyze Product Portfolios to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Identify key metrics and indicators that provide clarity on portfolio health and performance.
- Share Portfolio insights and recommendations with the leadership team.
- Simplify the reports landscape by reviewing usage for existing ones and making decommissioning recommendations.
- Training and Support:
- Provide guidance and support to teams on how to efficiently make use of existing reports, apply filters, and slice the data.
- Provide education and best practices recommendations to teams on the creation of new reports.
- Act as the central point of expertise for reporting tools, standards, and practices within the PMO function.
Minimum Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years in a PMO reporting role.
- Experience in a PMO or similar role in a complex, fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of portfolio management principles, including project lifecycle stages, RAG status assessments, and performance measurement.
- Proven experience in collating progress updates across multiple projects and synthesizing them into concise and impactful reports.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to design and maintain dashboards and templates tailored to organizational and leadership needs.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret data trends and provide actionable recommendations.
- Experience in managing relationships with cross-functional teams, including senior stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on presenting complex data in a clear and concise manner.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to deliver reports according to requirements and strict deadlines.
- Preferably, understands agile principles and methodologies, including agile project management tools such as JIRA and Aha!
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and solve problems.
