Role
We are recruiting for an experienced network focused Infrastructure Engineer who is experienced in Linux Debian 12. You will report directly into the head of Technical Operations and will be a part of the core technical team within the business. The ideal candidate will be to manage and optimize the IT infrastructure, contribute ideas and work collaboratively with the rest of the team (also remote).
In addition to this you will have a strong background in IT systems, networks, cloud services, and data centres. As the Infrastructure Engineer, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the technology infrastructure, ensuring it is secure, reliable, and scalable. This role requires a strategic leader who can align infrastructure goals with business objectives while maintaining cost-effective solutions and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and management of all IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, cloud services, and data centres.

Team Leadership: Although you will have no direct reports you will be part of a team that mentors and leads a team of engineers by providing technical guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.

Strategic Planning: Develop and execute long-term infrastructure strategies, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s overall business goals.

Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor infrastructure performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve efficiency, availability, and scalability.

Security & Compliance: Ensure infrastructure security by implementing industry best practices, managing access controls, conducting regular audits, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

Incident Management: Manage incident response, troubleshooting, and resolution of infrastructure-related issues. Lead post-incident reviews and implement preventive measures.

Budgeting & Cost Control: Manage infrastructure budgets, control costs, and identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality or performance.

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure minimal downtime in the event of disruptions.

Project Management: Lead infrastructure-related projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new system implementations, ensuring timely and on-budget delivery.
Skills & Qualifications:
Experience:
5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management.
Proven experience managing large-scale infrastructure environments (on-premises and cloud-based).
Strong knowledge of networks, servers, storage, virtualization, and cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Familiarity with tools for automation, monitoring, and configuration management (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, Nagios).
Technical Skills:
Experience with system architecture, database management, and enterprise IT solutions.
Strong understanding of security practices and disaster recovery planning.
Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
Leadership Skills:
Ability to lead and inspire teams, with strong communication and problem-solving skills. There are no direct reports within this role.
Certifications (preferred):
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent.
ITIL certification (IT Infrastructure Library) is a plus.
