CAD Technician/ Draftsperson | Permanent, Hybrid
Our client
Our client is an electronics and technology SME operating in the field of aerospace, defence and government, involved in the design and sale of electronic-scanning ground radar systems.
The opportunity
The company's engineering department is looking for a CAD technician or draftsperson to develop, produce and update mechanical designs for their existing and future radar systems. You will work on a range of designs, from entire radar system assemblies to smaller, precision-engineered electrical modules, including one-off test jigs and support items, and create high-quality, detailed technical drawings using CAD tools.
Key resonsiblities:

Generate and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models of engineering designs.

Generate and maintain mechanical and assembly BoMs.

Take designs from engineering and input from manufacturing to create and amend models and drawings.

Produce product drawings suitable for use in manufacture.

Support engineering & production to ensure manufacturability.

Maintenance of 3D models and drawings within the company’s PLM system.
Qualifications and knowledge

HND/HNC, or mechanical engineering degree (or similar experience).

Extensive knowledge and experience with SolidWorks.

Excellent teamworking and collaboration skills.

Clear and effective communication skills.
Additional preferred/desirable requirements

Experience with the mechanical aspects of the design of advanced electronic products & systems.

Experience with full system 3D modelling and 2D drawing, preferably including flexible assemblies such as wiring harnesses.

Knowledge/experience with other modelling or drawing software/tools, e.g. Creo
