Key Responsibilities: Lead guided walking safaris and bush trails, ensuring guest safety and engagement at all times. Provide informative and educational commentary on the local wildlife, plant life, and conservation efforts. Tailor each trail experience to the interests and safety needs of the group. Share knowledge on animal behavior, bird watching, geology, and indigenous cultures. Actively engage guests with storytelling and personalized interactions during walks. Ensure the safety and well-being of guests by managing risks and responding to any emergency situations. Maintain and ensure the operational readiness of equipment, such as radios, first aid kits, and walking sticks. Assist with lodge activities and wildlife tracking as required by management. Promote conservation awareness and sustainability practices. Uphold the lodgeâs exceptional service standards and contribute to the overall guest experience. Requirements: Qualified and experienced Trails Guide with a valid FGASA (Field Guides Association of South Africa) or equivalent certification. Proven experience in leading walking safaris or guided bush trails, preferably in a 5-star lodge or game reserve. Excellent knowledge of local flora, fauna, bird species, and ecosystems. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and educate guests in an entertaining and informative manner. In-depth knowledge of safety protocols and emergency response in the bush. A passion for conservation and preserving natural habitats. A valid driverâs license and a professional guiding license. Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances in challenging terrain. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and during peak seasons.
