Job Title: SHEQ Advisor

We are a long-established civil engineering contractor operating across the Midlands, experiencing ongoing growth. Due to this increasing level of business, an opportunity has arisen for a SHEQ Advisor to join our team.
The role is based in or around the Lincolnshire and / or Anglian Water Services (AWS) Region.
You will play a key role in providing operational support across our AWS Contract reporting directly to our SHEQ Manager.
In order to be successful in this role, you will have previous experience in a SHEQ Advisor role as well as previous experience in the Civil Engineering sector. You must have a NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate and have a strong understanding of the CDM Regulations and Temporary Works.
It is essential that you are organised and methodical with an ability to react promptly to changing business demands. With good inter-personal skills, you will be a team player with the ability to act on your own initiative whilst aware of when senior management team involvement is required.
A substantial amount of your working week will be spent out on our construction sites across East Anglia. Flexibility regarding start/finish times is essential for the role.
Job Specification:
Provide SHEQ assistance and support to site and operational management teams
Undertake SHEQ inspections on sites and depot facilities to ensure compliance to legal and internal standards
Record areas for improvement and discuss these with site management teams
Contribute to the on-going development of the SHEQ management system and procedures
Generate and deliver SHEQ training / toolbox talks when required
Generate and circulate Safety Alerts as and when required
Generate PowerPoint Presentation and assist with the delivery of the monthly stand down meetings including stats and data (audience of circa 80 workers)
Generate monthly stats and submit information to the D&W SHEQ Adviser along with the Safe & Well Team
Undertake personal risk assessments as and when required
Monitor occupational health regimes in conjunction with the D&W SHEQ Adviser and D&W HR Officer
Attend safety meetings as and when required
Undertake unannounced, with cause and/or following incident drug and alcohol tests
Assist in the development of behaviours to support business and AWS SHEQ initiatives and deliver a positive safety 'culture'
Undertake and complete accident / incident / service strike investigations
Undertake face fit testing for Groundworkers / sub-contractors as required
Be prepared to visit site locations and depot facilities within the UK which may necessitate some overnight stays
Support and assist stores/yard personnel with site compound H&S & Compliance matters
Change/update/review controlled documents in line with D&W quality management system and clients requirements
Issue letters for appointment for Temporary Works Co-Ordinators / Supervisors following new appointment and training regimes
Monitor training of personnel to ensure they remain valid and up to date, reporting any failures to the D&W Training Officer
Print job packs for workers as and when required ensuring most up to date documentation is provided
Provide cover for the SHEQ Manager during holiday periods and other times as requiredSkills Specification:
Qualified H&S professional, e.g. NEBOSH Certificate or NVQ, and CSCS Card holder (not colour specific)
Understanding of ISO45001, ISO14001 and ISO9001 standards and complying to the requirements - qualifications would be desirable
Understanding of legal and other requirements relevant to our business activities
Understanding and practical experience of SHEQ inspection and report writing
Experienced in the review of RAMS and COSHH Assessments
Experience in delivering presentations / training sessions
Clean driving licence
Computer literate in Microsoft systemsRequired Personal Qualities:
