Children’s Residential Practitioner
Bradford
3 months initially
Rota basis between the hours of 9am – 12pm, 37 hrs/week (waking night would be considered also)
Direct work with children and young people with learning disabilities and autism, aged 5 – 18 years old
Provide emotional and physical support to meet their needs
Implement care plans, risk assessments and health plans
Devise behaviour management plans
Assist children with their personal care and hygiene
Ensure children and young people are supported to go to school, enjoy leisure activities, stay healthy and also safe
Supervising children and young people overnight on trips, holiday’s as required
Make sure children receive any medicines at the right dosage and at the prescribed times
Undertake domestic tasks such as shopping, cleaning and cooking
Ensure that records and filed are kept up to date
Able to be mobile to attend meetings, appointments at Doctors, Schools, Social Work Offices across the District as required Requirements
NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People)
Must have a minimum of 12 months experience of working with children and young people
Must have an understanding of the safeguarding issues which may impact on children in care
Must have an understanding of physical, emotional, cultural, racial and individual needs in a residential setting
