We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Mental Health Tribunal Panel Member to join an expanding Mental Health Team. With Legal Aid Agency contracts in London and Birmingham, along with a strong presence in three high-secure hospitals across England, this position offers a rewarding role within a supportive environment that prioritises flexibility and professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
Caseload Management: Effectively handle a personal caseload of mental health law files.
Client Representation: Advocate for clients in Tribunal and Hospital Managers' hearings.
Meeting Participation: Attend Care Programme Approach (CPA) and Section 117 aftercare meetings.
Compliance Oversight: Meet fee-earning targets and ensure adherence to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements.
Business Development Support: Contribute to department growth by generating new business and participating in marketing initiatives.Remote Working:
The Mental Health Team operates primarily in a remote working model. Candidates should be comfortable working independently from home and demonstrate strong organisational skills and self-motivation. While remote work is encouraged, access to office facilities in Central London is available for those who prefer a hybrid arrangement.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will:
Be a current member of the Law Society's Mental Health Tribunal Panel (essential).
Have substantial experience in representing clients in mental health law cases.
Be highly organised, self-motivated, and capable of managing a varied caseload remotely.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to client care and uphold professional standards.
