Job Summary: We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our clients team in Durban. In this role, you will be responsible for accurate payroll processing, assisting with VAT submissions, and providing support to the HR team. The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll administration, a basic understanding of VAT processes, and be comfortable handling general HR administrative tasks. This position requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and excellent communication skills. Key Responsibilities: Payroll Processing: Process payroll accurately and on time for all employees in compliance with company policies and South African regulations. Calculate employee earnings, statutory deductions (e.g., UIF, PAYE), and other adjustments. Verify payroll data, ensuring accuracy and addressing any discrepancies. Manage payroll records, including timekeeping, pay stubs, and payroll reports. Handle employee payroll-related inquiries and resolve issues promptly and professionally. Distribute payroll statements, payslips, and manage direct deposits. VAT Submission Support: Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT returns, ensuring compliance with South African VAT regulations. Maintain and update VAT records, verifying that all transactions are accurately documented for VAT purposes. Coordinate with the finance team to ensure accurate VAT calculations and submission timelines. Assist in resolving VAT-related queries and audits. HR Administrative Support: Assist HR with new hire onboarding, ensuring all payroll and HR documentation is complete. Maintain employee records, including leave balances, attendance, and contract details. Support the HR team in responding to employee queries related to benefits, policies, and general HR matters. Assist in compiling HR reports and data for management as needed. Qualifications and Skills: Matric and a certificate or diploma in accounting, payroll, HR, or a related field is a plus. Previous experience in payroll processing and administration. Familiarity with South African tax and VAT regulations is essential. Knowledge of HR processes, policies, and employment laws is advantageous. Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office, particularly Excel. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and data entry accuracy. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Intercode Basic knowledge of accounting principles or certification in payroll administration is an advantage. Working Conditions: Full-time position, Monday to Friday. Office environment with the possibility of occasional overtime during payroll periods or VAT deadlines.
