Job Purpose:
To provide comprehensive management accountancy support to a Senior Finance Analyst.
Responsibilities (Brief overview and no limited to)
- Support Budget Managers in preparation of Annual Directorate Budgets, reconciling to Corporate Business Plan.
- Assist production of timely and accurate Monthly Budget Reports, forecasts, and variance analysis, in line with Department deadlines for specified areas.
- Maintain up to date and accurate Budgetary Control Records, and Establishment Records, for specified areas.
- To regularly meet with Budget Managers at all levels of the Trust to advise on Budgetary Control/Management and understand forecast position.
- Provide advice on Financial Policy, Planning and Control to Budget Managers to enable budgets to be managed effectively and efficiently.
- Provide financial information to the Senior Finance Manager, Head of Financial Reporting, Head of Finance, and the Director of Finance.
- Assist provision of information for Board Report, NHS England Reports, and other external reports meeting appropriate deadlines.
- To advise all Trust Staff on financial policy and financial controls in order that value for money and financial efficiency may be achieved.
- Manage, support, and help develop junior staff members and contribute to the efficient working of the immediate Finance Team and wider Finance Directorate.
- Review and prepare accurate and timely Monthly Detailed Reports for nominated budget areas of the Trust.
- Prepare Summarised Financial Reports for the Senior Finance Manager and the Head of Financial Reporting to report to the Head of Finance and the Director of Finance, the Executive Team, and The Trust Board.
- The post holder will need to Assist with the preparation of the Annual Budget Setting Process for one or more specified budgetary areas of the Trust.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience in Budgetary Control, Financial Planning and Forecasting.
- Knowledge of NHS financial regime, including NHS Constitutional Values, Trust Standing Orders, Standing Financial Instructions, the Scheme of Delegation, and IFRS application to an NHS organisation.
- Significant experience in a financial management role, with individual responsibility for budgeting, monitoring and reporting on specific cost centres/ projects, and experience of managing and developing junior staff within a team.
- Excellent written interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Being able to advise Finance and Non-Finance Managers on matters relating to their own area, with detailed supporting advice and guidance.
- Computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Organisational skills to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- People management and supervision.
- Multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Able to instruct others in own job.
Qualifications:
- AAT qualified or studying towards CCAB, having passed at least the initial level.
- Professional accountancy qualification to Postgraduate Diploma Level, eg Managerial or Intermediate Level CIMA, Part II ACCA, Diploma Level CIPFA, or equivalent experience.
