Job Description
Responsible for all GWK’s import and export inventory in Durban port warehouses ensuring safe storage practices are followed as well as the overall adherence & compliance to quality and grading standards. Ensuring that the SOP’s agreed with the warehouses are followed. This will include the fumigation of inventory in warehouses as well as fumigation of shipping containers.
Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in warehousing, grading, and fumigation of agricultural products
- Proven industry management experience of 3-5 years is essential
- All appropriate grain grading and storage/warehousing courses are essential - Grain grading certificates essential (Maize, Ground Nuts, Lucerne)
- Warehousing experience
- Fumigation certificates essential
- Knowledge of Food Safety Policies
- Computer Literate in MS Office
- Code 8 Driver's License and own vehicle
- Willing to travel daily between Durban port warehouses
- Clear Criminal Record
- Medically fit
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English
Duties and Responsibilities
- Inventory management of GWK stock in Durban Port warehouse
- Improve SOP’s to ensure that stock is handled, stored, and packed in the correct manner
- Monthly stock take of all inventory including packaging material and fumigants
- Control that the warehouses follow correct storage procedures as agreed in the SOP’s
- Stock inspections for storage insects
- Quality Assurance and Quality Control of export products when products arrive at the warehouse or when they are dispatched or packed in containers
- Handling of quality discrepancies and damaged stock
- Claims report if quality or quantity problems occur
- Execute grading of import and export loads from GWK (Lucerne, Maize, Pecan nuts, Ground Nuts/Peanuts, and Cotton) according to regulations and standards
- Fumigation on import and export stock
- Arrange repacking of damaged bags/goods
- Lucerne grading confirmations, weekly Lucerne stock confirmation and ensure that packaging meets set standards
- Handling insurance claims and investigations of inventory
- Sale of damaged product
- Ensure equipment is of a functional standard, maintained, and calibrated where applicable
- Report any quality discrepancies directly to the senior
- Daily inspections to confirm that truck inspections, container inspections, and warehouse inspections are completed and correctly documented by the contracted warehouse personnel
- Audit all contracted warehouses on a monthly basis and submit reports
- Provide general support to the department such as accurate tracking of stock control cards
- Excellent customer service including dealing with queries and complaints
- Be a GWK ambassador and a good team player
