An exciting career opportunity has become available within PwC Private for a Tax Consultant
The tax consultant will focus on the unique tax considerations of nonprofits with a primary focus on income tax and a good understanding of VAT and PAYE matters specifically pertaining to the industry (60%) and general tax compliance and consulting for taxable private companies (40%).
Key Focus areas of this role will include but will not be limited to:
Audit of tax - Tax status and compliance reviews
- Collecting and considering tax and legal documentation to test compliance with tax exempt status conditions and extent of the application of the exemption to different income streams.
Tax compliance for non-profits
- Including the consideration of, consulting in respect of eligibility for tax exemption and end-to-end application to the SARS Tax Exemption Unit.
- In-person attendance of meetings with the SARS Tax Exemption Unit in Pretoria to attend to outstanding, complex and/or urgent tax administration matters.
- Preparation/review/consulting on and submission of IT12EI, IT3(d), and IT3(t) tax returns/declarations; consideration of legal compliance matters, consulting and communication with the client and SARS TEU on the impact of the updates/changes on its tax status.
Tax consulting
- Reviewing of matters which may impact on the tax status of an existing nonprofit and drafting tax opinions.
- Applications for nonbinding tax opinions or SARS rulings / setting up new nonprofit entities, considering and consulting on matters which may affect the ongoing compliance of non-profits with their respective tax exemption conditions.
Assignment engagement and completion support
- Preparation of proposals, statements of work, scoping documents, project plans, client acceptance documentation, collection and capturing of assignment documentation, preparation of reviewed documents for final signoff and capturing of signed documents on client file (document system).
Qualifications and industry experience required:
- BCom degree in Accounting and/or Tax with or without law.
- Completed articles/traineeship (in Accounting, Tax or Law).
- Professional qualification (TA(SA), CA(SA) or admitted attorney) will be advantageous.
