Dear Hiring Manager,
I'm writing to express my interest in any chances that would allow me to continue growing professionally and personally while contributing significantly to a motivated and positive team. Early in life, I had a personal experience that sparked my interest in the interactions between people, communities and institutions. This event also motivated me to continue learning, developing and being a part of settings where I can support others and leave a lasting mark.
I have a strong foundation in critical thinking, time management and effective communication thanks to my academic education. Studying both criminology and sociology has improved my capacity to examine complicated problems from several angles. I now know how to analyse information, critically assess arguments and draw solid fact based conclusions. Additionally, these courses have helped me develop empathy, ethical awareness and a strong sense of social responsibility, qualities that I think are essential for any position involving interacting with people or assisting communities. In the meantime, I have also improved my practical, leadership, planning and teamwork skills through my BTEC Sport. In order to successfully manage time and meet deadlines, organising and carrying out training sessions and other activities required a good amount of organisation, attention to detail but also the capacity to operate well under pressure. Furthermore, I developed my ability to inspire others, offer constructive criticism and adjust to various group dynamics and learning styles.
Outside of the classroom, I've engaged in a range of enrichment activities that assisted in my professional and personal development. My confidence, resilience and leadership abilities were enhanced when I served as a student leader in Years 9, 12, and 13 as well as when earning the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. I was also incredibly pleased to get a Gold Coachbright Award for providing academic support and mentoring younger students preparing for their GCSEs. Throughout my time at school, I have helped younger kids with improving their reading skills, assisted teachers with maths, geography and PE but also translated school issues to foreign parents. Lastly, I have served as an ambassador in the fields of criminology and sociology in both year 12 and 13 and assisted in planning events like prom and sports exams.
Along with these activities, I have learned important interpersonal and customer service skills from my retail volunteering and work experience, such as how to follow thorough instructions, communicate well with a variety of clients and perform well under pressure. My prior position as a lunchtime supervisor helped me improve my patience and my ability to build positive connections with coworkers and students. My work experience at the Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind allowed me to gain a variety of interpersonal and practical skills. My deep work with visually impaired people has taught me the value of patience and clear communication. While helping them on my own increased my confidence and sense of responsibility, working with staff helped me develop my organisational and teamwork abilities. Overall, this experience improved my comprehension of inclusive methods and my capacity to assist others. I am excited to use the great organisational, problem solving and teamwork abilities I have gained from these experiences in my future positions.
