About
I was given the opportunity to attend the ‘Generation Innovation’ program which is basically a program lasting a week that gives young people the chance to go out on work placement with some innovative companies around Derry, I was placed with Fujitsu an IT service company which was great for me as I was studying IT at alevel at the time, in which I received a merit. This placement involved lots of hands on work, lots of communication and teamwork which enabled me to develop in area’s like my communication skills, Social skills, Teamwork skills and other skills to. This placement really put a picture to what I was learning about in class, and really has shown me what the real life of work is actually like and I feel I have so much more knowledge than what I did before.
Also I gained work experience through going out on placement to both a nursery and a primary school for both a week each . I set up activities for each of my placements developing in my independant skills, I also was not stuck to a uniform so I had the responsibility of choosing the correct attire and looking the role. My social skills were also developed due to not having my close friends with me I had to interact with new people and work with the other classroom assistants; developing my teamworking skills. I gained experience and tools that I will definitely need in the future. I also recieved an overall merit in this level 3 course.
Have experience in setting up a small enterprise which was a coffee/brunch morning set up to celebrate staff successes in my school. My role was greeting, welcoming and offering up fruit juice on arrival, I also had to resolve some complaints during this experience. I have went on to achieve an A overall in this level 3 in hospitality/customer service.
