About
I am currently seeking work in other sectors besides education, though still in an area where I can help and support people.
I have many years experience dealing with confidential data, and Electronic / Paper administration systems and am aware of the many options witch may be available in education and development.
I am very experienced in the use of Microsoft office packages and have competed the Microsoft office specialist master Qualification for versions 2010,2013 and most of 2016 and I also have a good level of familiarity with macros and VB script . A Full list can be found on my extended C.V.
I have worked in IT all my career, Early on I worked in IT support and server management which lead me into the teaching profession because I like to help people Learn help themselves. I have a long history in teaching and Assessment in the IT sector, (mostly at level 2 and 3) and have worked with young people for over 25 years and have a good understanding of them.
In terms of technical skills I have a solid knowledge of SQL and a high degree of coding skill mostly on the windows platform using C++, C#, visual basic, a little Java and Python to a good level.
In addition to programming I have delivered technical support related courses and NVQ Apprenticeships (levels 2- 4), covering all aspects of a technician role including Desktop support, system maintenance, and hardware and software set up, virtual machines using VmWare and some networking. Additionally I have spent a number of years as an internal verifier on NVQ programs ( I hold a D34) .
I am always open to learning new skills and improving my existing ones.
My experience of teaching HE level is more limited to older version HND and foundation degree, covering Web development modules, with more recent teaching, on the HND Digital Technology on the Programming module.
During my own time at college and university I have studied electronics to a significant degree. In more recent times it is a subject I have revisited looking into Arduino microcontrollers and some IOT technologies.
At home I frequently undertake a range of DIY activities including Decorating, Joinery, Plumbing and some Electrical tasks for Family and Friends.
In the past I have undertaken some formal training in the use of some joinery workshop tools such as table saws & table routers , Mortice machines and also the full range of hand & power tools.
