About
Since leaving school I have held a number of posts where I have enjoyed working as a member of a team and roles where I worked under my own initiative, and I am happy to do either.
I can work within time constraints and will always try to agree clear, achievable timescales up front before commencing a piece of work.
I’m a good communicator and have no trouble establishing a good working relationship with colleagues and external customers alike. I have had no problem with communicating with all levels of management right up to CEO.
As Intranet Consultant and Support Manager at the Yorkshire Building Society (YBS) I was responsible for the day-to-day running of the society’s intranet and was the point of contact for all users and authors questions and technical queries.
I maintained a good relationship with our software providers attending conferences and networking events, feeding back to them with software bugs and enhancement requests.
I have a good understanding of computer systems including Intranet/ Internet software, Microsoft Office suite – Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and OneNote. Also, Desktop Publishing Software and Adobe Photoshop, and I have no issue getting to grips with new software packages.
I supported and upskilled my Asda team colleagues by sharing my knowledge of content creation and formatting using html, CSS and bootstrap. This enabled the team to create the best possible content and ensure a consistent user experience.
When I first started at YBS my job was as a Process Improvement Analyst, and although I have changed roles many times since then I am always on the lookout for process improvements opportunities and enhancements to improve the customer and colleague experience.
I have provided innovative cross platform solutions, developing and maintaining an organisation wide measurement tool capturing key volumetric and qualitative information to allow informed decision making.
Whilst working in the YBS Resource and Planning Team I was responsible for creating the monthly board report, collecting, collating and publishing a wide range of SLA’s and customer feedback, in a format that was clear and unambiguous.
I was responsible for ensuring governance was followed at all times also the correct branding, style and appropriate tone of voice was used. Good governance is of prime importance to any intranet or information system, as colleagues need to feel secure that any information provided is correct and up to date.
As well as creating content I was responsible for ‘behind the scenes’ BAU tasks, such as updating colleague information, leaver and new starter processes also chasing colleagues who were getting behind with reviewing their site content.
Using my knowledge of html and CSS I redesigned the YBS user guide documents, winning an award for innovative design, which is still highlighted by the software providers as best practice for the formatting of user guides and similar documents.
I am naturally curious and keen to develop new skills and work with new colleagues.
When not working, I am the Chair of Communications for the British Youth Band Association where I look after the Associations website and social media channels. I am currently in the process of building a new WordPress website and use DTP software to create BYBA literature, flyers and annual National Championships programmes.
I live in Leeds have a clean driving licence.
Please see my C.V. for a full summary of my employment history and experience.
Best Regards
Richard
