Estimator - Plumbing & Heating Contractor

This role involves the full estimating process to submit tenders for the plumbing & heating package for large scale new build housing contracts with a typical value from £100k to in excess of £1M. The majority of these contracts are new build housing developments.

The ideal candidate should preferably have experience in estimating domestic plumbing & heating contracts. Candidates will be considered with previous experience in construction estimating, or plumbing & heating. Excellent IT skills are preferred, with basic skills essential, particularly in the use of Microsoft Excel.

The role involves:

Full estimating responsibility, from logging enquiry to submitting final tender
Taking off quantities from drawings
Pricing bills of quantities
Reviewing specification documents in detail
Logging all tender packages received
Managing and prioritising an unpredictable workload
Using in house system to formulate tenders
Compiling tender letters to include all conditions of offer
Assessing relevant tender qualifications
Following up all tenders submitted
Negotiating with clients to win contracts

The successful candidate will report directly to the managing director.

Qualifications

Proficiency in cost control techniques
Experience in plumbing& heating industry
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel for data analysis
IT skills for communication and project management
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
