Full job description

We are looking for a high-energy, conscientious mechanical fitter to become part of our close-knit maintenance team. The position entails corrective and preventive maintenance tasks involving equipment, facilities, and a distribution fleet, reporting to the Maintenance Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Conducting risk assessments for mechanical maintenance tasks
Attending to mechanical breakdowns
Performing preventive mechanical tasks
Identifying and addressing mechanical issues that affect machine performance
Ensuring the mechanical safety of plant, equipment, and facilities
Engaging in fault-finding individually and with other team members
Participating in the development of maintenance packages for equipment
Recording maintenance information using a computerised maintenance management system

Willing to work overtime and attend to callouts as required
Attention to detail with a “first time right” mentality
Strong, logical problem solver
Physically fit and capable of dealing with the typical stresses of a pressurised manufacturing environment
An avid learner willing to work across a range of production and utilities areas

Qualifications and Experience:

Matric and N3 engineering
Trade tested fitter
Must have driver's license
Basic computer literacy with some CMMS experience
At least 5 years of industrial experience in a food processing environment
