The Village Manager is responsible for the smooth administrative running of the Village to maintain its status as a premier retirement complex in Pietermaritzburg district. The Village Manager is expected to manage all administrative aspects of the Village in accordance with the Communities Vision, Mission, and current policies. The incumbent will need to be a well-rounded manager with excellent people skills. The job description gives an overview of the tasks that could reasonably be expected to ensure the smooth running of the Village.
Objectives:
- Liaison with residents
- Liaison with the Chairperson of the Village Management Committee (VMC), the Village’ Management Association(VMA) and the CEO and staff
- Administration of Community assets within the Village
- Personnel management
- Management of Support Services
- New projects within the village
Qualifications:
- Minimum educational qualification: Matric plus a suitable tertiary education
- Minimum experience: 10 years, at least 5 in a senior role within a care facility or within the service industry.

Technical skills required:
- Knowledge of standard office and administrative systems, and general maintenance issues
- Computer literacy and competence with MS Word and MS Excel
- The ability to learn and use novel computer software
- The ability to write reports, prepare minutes, prepare budgets and read financial statements.
- A valid driver’s license.
