About the role The primary objective of the farmers engagement is to cultivate, manage, and harvest agricultural produce in accordance with best farming practices. This will include ensuring sustainable farming and optimizing yield.
Responsibilities: - To assist the farm manager to take care, oversee and manage the day-to-day operation on the farm.
- Assist with land preparation, planting, harvesting, and post-harvest processes.
- Assist with monitoring crop growth, manage pests, and ensure high crop yield
- Assist with fertilization and spraying of chemicals
- Assist with weeds control
- Assist with irrigation and maintenance of irrigation system
- Assist with records related to farming activities, such as crop yields, pest control, and fertilizer usage.
- Manage the sorting, packaging, and storage of harvested produce to minimize loss.
- Assist with other general work of the farm.
Requirements: - South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34
- Must not have participated on the YES Programme
- Good communication
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Determination and ambition
- Certification or diploma in agriculture or a related field is an advantage.
- Valid drivers license
