About the role
Supporting the Project Site Supervisor in managing and overseeing daily operations at construction or project sites. This role ensures that projects are executed efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and adhere to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
1. Site Operations Support
- Assist in supervising and coordinating daily site activities.
- Ensure compliance with project plans, schedules, and specifications.
- Monitor work progress and report updates to the Site Supervisor.
2. Safety and Compliance - Enforce adherence to health and safety regulations on-site.
- Conduct regular safety checks and ensure workers follow safety protocols.
- Report and document any incidents or near-misses.
3. Material and Equipment Management - Assist in tracking inventory, supplies, and materials at the site.
- Ensure timely delivery and proper storage of construction materials.
- Check the condition and functionality of tools and equipment.
4. Quality Control - Ensure that work meets established quality standards and project requirements.
- Report defects or deviations to the Site Supervisor for prompt resolution.
5. Team Coordination - Support and guide site workers to maintain productivity.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Assist in resolving on-site issues and conflicts.
6. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate daily logs, including attendance, work progress, and site activities.
Assist in preparing reports and submitting them to relevant stakeholders.
Requirements
Qualification in Construction Safety Officer or related field.
Basic knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
Familiarity with project management principles.
Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
Good communication skills (written and verbal).
South African unemployed youth aged between 18 and 34.
Must not have taken part in the YES Program before.
