About the role
The Junior Accountant will be responsible for supporting the client's financial operations through accurate stock management, reconciliations, and basic accounting practices. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Junior Accountant will ensure that inventory records are precise and financial transactions are processed efficiently and in line with standard
accounting principles.
Responsibilities
- Perform stock counts and reconcile inventory records to ensure the accuracy and reliability of reported figures.
- Process daily financial transactions, such as processing of bank statements and recording expenses,
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and financial statements supporting documents (such as fixed asset register).
- Contribute to the financial section of business plans.
- Support the Finance Manager with month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciling accounts and preparing reports.
- Liaise with third parties, and obtain necessary documentation and clarifying information as needed.
- Assist in statutory returns and preparation of supporting documents and schedules to support the returns.
- Monitor and ensure the accuracy of transactional processing and assist in maintaining efficient financial workflows.
Requirements - Qualification in Bachelor of Accounting
- Basic understanding of accounting principles such as Debits, Credits, and the importance of balancing,
- Familiar with the Layout and contents of financial statements through studies,
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Must not have taken part in the YES Program before.
- South African unemployed youth aged between 18 and 34.
