Our client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Millwright to perform maintenance , repairs , and troubleshooting on underground mining equipment . This position requires someone based in Johannesburg who is willing to travel to various mining sites in Rustenburg and Limpopo . The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and safety of mining equipment by providing both mechanical and electrical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance and Repair
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical components of underground mining equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical systems to minimize equipment downtime.
- Ensure all maintenance tasks are carried out according to safety protocols and industry standards.
- Safety and Compliance
- Conduct regular safety checks on equipment and report any potential hazards.
- Ensure all work complies with regulatory and site-specific safety standards.
- Technical Support and Diagnostics
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
- Collaborate with on-site technicians and maintenance staff to provide comprehensive support.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and inspections performed on equipment.
- Report on equipment condition, maintenance schedules, and any necessary replacements or upgrades.
- Travel and Site Support
- Be available for on-call support as required to address urgent maintenance issues.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Millwright with both electrical and mechanical certifications.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Millwright in the mining or heavy industrial sector.
- Must be medically fit and have a clear criminal record.
