About the Role: We are looking for an experienced, project-oriented Automation Controls Engineer (f/m/d) to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will play a significant part in performing electrical design, specification, project management, installation, startup, and validation for existing and new process equipment.

This role will be located at our facility in Pleinfeld in Bavaria, Germany.
- Lead and follow projects from start to finish, including defining project scope, writing specifications, design, contract and procurement, build, installation, start-up, and qualification of processing equipment
- Engage within the design engineering function and as an integral member of project teams with other functions, such as mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, process engineers, IT, facilities, skilled trades, operations, and procurement
- Partner with product development, process engineering, leadership, and manufacturing teams to determine equipment needs and project requirements
- Understand and provide input to asset life cycle and obsolescence strategies
- Collaborate with suppliers on the design and purchase of new equipment and modifications to existing systems
- Perform electrical design and hands-on start-up for process equipment (e.g., drives, programmable logic controller [PLC] logic programming, human-machine interfaces [HMIs], wiring schematics, instrumentation, and motor control systems)
- Create and update electrical schematics, specifications, software, and documentation, and partner with skilled trades associates as a resource for electrical expertise
- Provide field supervision of contractors for installation and start-up of new equipment
- Develop and complete process equipment validations and documentation
- Support skilled trades (shop) with breakdowns and troubleshooting of existing equipment
- Engage with and use the quality system to facilitate the execution and implementation of the efforts listed above
- Degree in Electrical/Electromechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electromechanical Engineering Technology, or other Engineering degree with a minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in automation and controls
- Experience with industrial motor drive and control systems, and industrial networking
- PLC/SPS logic programming and HMI interface programming experience Data acquisition, management and reporting experience
- Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drawing experience to generate schematics and equipment documentation
- Knowledge of related engineering disciplines, such as mechanical and chemical engineering, and of applicable electrical codes and machine safety practices
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new skills and technologies, ability and desire to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated Project Management skills for large and small projects, with a track record of achieving timelines and deliverables
- Effective communication and documentation of technical information and data
- Experience in developing specifications for communicating requirements to suppliers
- Fluent in German and English language
- Ability to travel 10%
