Purpose of the Position
The purpose of the role is to provide support to the Director: Finance Operations by providing operational support in areas such as change management project coordination, internal/external audit coordination, trial balance account reconciliations as well as transactional support for the Vantage Health Technologies business unit.
This position is contingent on funding.
Key Accountabilities
Financial Accounting and Management Reporting:
- Support with the submission of various finance related returns for all entities within the BroadReach Group.
- Support, on a needs basis, compliance with tax legislation through timely compilation and submission of reports to tax authorities i.e. SARS, IRS, etc.
- Assist with month-end and/or year-end general ledger journals such as depreciation, prepaid expenses, accruals etc., are complete, accurate and processed on time.
- Support client facing staff in ensuring that customer accounts receivable or payable agree with external records by periodically and consistently reconciling them with the customer’s records.
- Support with client, intercompany and interbranch invoices to ensure it is accurately prepared and distributed per internal reporting deadlines.
- Support complete, accurate and timely vendor reconciliation submissions ensuring timeous supplier payments.
- Support with the improvement and training of finance staff on the various finance processes and procedures, in line with change management.
- Support with the compliance of the international Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other reporting legislation.
Audit:
- Provide overview of accounting systems and processes to auditors as well as respond to related audit queries.
- Preparation of audit working papers for year-end audit including trial balances and supporting schedules.
- Ensure that audit adjustments are processed accurately and timeously.
Additional Support:
- Support the Finance Director: Operations with change management and transition activities.
Qualifications
Essential qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in finance/accounting or related field.
- Completed 3 years articles at a reputable audit firm.
Desirable qualifications:
- Additional post graduate degree in finance/accounting related field or registration with professional accounting or tax body.
Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 3 years, inclusive of articles, experience in a similar role in a medium to large matrixed environment.
- Experience with Caseware and completion of financial statements.
- Experience in multi-currency, multi-company, and multi-jurisdictional accounting.
- Experience with Software and/or consulting business.
- Demonstrable experience coordinating internal or external audits.
- Experience in conducting training/capacity building for finance as well as non-finance staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others within the larger finance organization and take appropriate action when required.
- Experience in managing accounting processes from beginning to end.
- Ability to communicate effectively regarding finance processes to non-finance staff.
- Demonstrable ability to meet deadlines and go the extra mile to achieve set deadlines.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting theory as well as best practices in accounting coupled with ability to give constructive input into financial accounting policies and procedures.
- Excellent computer skills and exposure to accounting packages.
- Knowledge of Swiss accounting regulations an added advantage.
- Sound understanding of the role of finance team as a support and service department.
- Ability to communicate BroadReach’s core values to the finance team.
