The Opportunity:
We are seeking a brilliant Customer Marketing Manager, to be responsible for implementing customer retention strategies. This is a new role and the primary focus will be performing email and direct mail campaigns, leading customer segments, and optimizing activity across the US, UK, France and Germany. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and effective delivery of all marketing communications, aiming to engage our loyal customer base and drive repeat bookings.
The role reports to the Senior Customer Marketing Manager, which is the most senior Repeat marketing role in the department and report directly to the VP of Marketing.
We have high-reaching but attainable growth targets for bookings over the next 18 months and this role will be central to our success!

What You Will Be Doing:
- Agree and deliver on the contact plan for segments of various segments of customer across our global markets.
- Plan & implement email and direct mail campaigns to deliver the repeat marketing strategy and repeat booking goals, handling day-to-day operations of email marketing campaigns, including building emails; compiling & crafting content; setting up segment variants, selecting audiences and ensuring timely deployment.
- Segment customer databases into relevant cohorts based on behavioral data and booking history to ensure personalized and targeted messaging, using dynamic content tools to create personalized email experiences based on customer preferences and journey stages.
- Lead direct mail campaigns, building segment and messaging, working with creative on production and leading production and distribution.
- Collaborate with the design and content teams to ensure consistency and impact, developing specific product content as well as rich-lifestyle content to complement offers.
- Build dynamic & personalized content for customers at a 121 or segment level to increase relevance and engagement from the customer.
- Monitor the performance of email and direct mail campaigns, providing regular reports and insights.
- Adjust and optimize ongoing campaigns based on performance data and feedback from the Senior Customer Marketing Manager.
- Deploy a continuous test-measure-learn program to optimize the impact of your activity.
- Seek ways to enhance and improve our repeat marketing, identifying new segments, tactics and channels beyond email and direct mail.
What We Are Looking For:
- Proven track-record in high-impact email & direct mail deployment in previous roles.
- A good working knowledge of HubSpot or similar email and automation platforms.
- Experience with direct mail campaign management and integration with digital channels.
- A record of success in improving customer engagement, response rates and repeat bookings or sales in previous roles.
- Ability to demonstrate use of strong copywriting and content management to build compelling emails and Direct mails.
- Strong understanding of customer insights; segmentation & database analysis.
- Strong copywriting skills to support team.
- Knowledge of web analytical tools e.g. Google Analytics.
- University degree or equivalent experience.
- Curiosity about sailing and experience working in travel or hospitality is a plus.
Additional Details:
- This is a full-time position defined on a hybrid-basis, with hub office in Cape Town, South Africa.
- The role will require very occasional travel as necessary to operational bases and our other Corporate offices located predominantly in the US, Europe and the Caribbean.
