JOB SUMMARY
At EQ8 recruit, we have been engaged exclusively to help recruit a meticulous and detail-oriented Marine Project Planner for a 15-month fixed-term contract to join our client's dynamic team in Durban. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of maritime projects through effective planning and coordination.
The Marine Project Planner will be responsible for developing and maintaining project plans, schedules, and reports to ensure timely and efficient project delivery. This includes coordinating with various departments, managing supplier schedules, and providing regular updates to the Project Manager.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
In order to be shortlisted for this vacancy, the successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:
- A National Senior Certificate.
- A Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, with a preference for project planning studies.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in planning or project management, ideally within the shipbuilding industry.
- Proficiency in Primavera planning software is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Demonstrated accountability, integrity, and strategic thinking.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The role responsibilities will include:
- Generating and communicating regular progress reports.
- Reviewing and updating project plans as required.
- Measuring key variables, such as actual hours worked versus planned hours.
- Managing delivery schedules for equipment procured locally and internationally.
- Liaising with the Finance department to resolve supplier payment queries.
- Tracking deliveries with logistics partners.
- Managing and updating major subcontractors' project plans.
- Maintaining and updating the Master Schedule and Project Plan.
- Issuing weekly instructions highlighting corrective actions required.
- Supporting other departments with their functional area plans as needed.
- Providing progress updates to the Project Manager.
