Garmin is a leading active tech company. The company develops innovative products for people who lead an active life - from smartwatches and diving watches to bike computers, cockpits for sports airplanes and radars for yachts.
Founded in 1989 by engineer friends Gary Burrell and Min Kao in Olathe, Kansas, Garmin today stands for a broad, highly differentiated product portfolio in the outdoor, fitness, aviation, automotive and marine sectors. Over 20,000 employees in 35 countries worldwide help customers discover their passions and live more active, conscious and healthy lives every day in line with the motto “Beat Yesterday”.
Garmin is represented in the DACH region with locations in Garching near Munich (D), Graz (A) and Neuhausen am Rheinfall (CH). Around 300 employees work there. The company also has its own research and development site in Würzburg (D). A central principle of success and the basis for the high quality is vertical integration: with a few exceptions, the development of the products and their entire technological ecosystem remains within the company - from the innovative sensor to the Garmin Connect app, from the idea, design and production through to sales and customer support.
