Our client, a leading supplier in solar solutions, is seeking a dynamic and commercially experienced Commercial and Marketing Manager to drive growth and enhance commercial operations across South Africa and Africa. This role is critical in driving market expansion, reclaiming control over key distribution processes, optimizing stock management, and overseeing all marketing initiatives in the region.
The ideal candidate will have a strong commercial background, proven leadership skills, and the ability to engage with distribution partners at a strategic level. While direct experience in the solar industry is not mandatory, a solid understanding of or experience in a technical industry is essential to ensure effective communication and alignment with the company’s product and market requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
Valid Drivers license and own vehicle
Proven experience in a senior commercial or managerial role.
Strong commercial acumen with a solid understanding of pricing, distribution, and market strategies.
Hands-on experience with stockholding, supply chain processes, and distributor management.
Marketing experience, with the ability to oversee and implement marketing strategies.
Technical industry experience (preferred, but not mandatory).
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Willingness to travel across South Africa and Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement robust commercial strategies, focusing on pricing, routes to market, and stockholding processes.
Work closely with distribution partners to streamline commercial operations, ensuring a seamless stock-in and stock-out process.
Oversee local stockholding to supply and support current distributors effectively.
Take on a leadership role in overseeing marketing activities, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.
Develop marketing strategies to enhance brand visibility and support distribution partners.
Manage and build relationships with distribution partners, providing commercial guidance and support to maximize sales performance.
Regularly engage with distributors on pricing strategies and routes to market.
Set up and manage local stockholding to improve supply chain efficiency.
Monitor and manage stock flow directly to distributors.
Although initial responsibilities exclude direct sales, there is potential to transition into direct sales initiatives in the future.
Travel across South Africa and Africa to meet distributors, assess markets, and drive commercial activities.
