Job Purpose
To manage factory maintenance operations and resources, contributing to production targets and ensuring optimal product quality standards safely and efficiently.

Section A: Key Performance Areas
1. Maintenance Operations and Control (55%)
- Ensure effective reactive, predictive, and preventative maintenance on all plant equipment to minimize downtime and optimize production.
- Coordinate first-line maintenance activities.
- Issue job cards for maintenance work and escalate work permits as needed.
- Conduct fault analysis on equipment failures using methods like Root Cause Analysis.
- Approve completed job cards and ensure equipment safety and adherence to housekeeping principles.
Indicators: - Preventative maintenance is conducted per schedule.
- Minimized plant/equipment downtime.
- Timely equipment failure rectifications.
- Adherence to safety and housekeeping standards.
2. Compliance (15%)
- Operate within controls and procedures to ensure integrity.
- Identify and report risks or areas of concern.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and prevent irregular expenditure.
- Enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
Indicators: - Risks reported and documented.
- Compliance with SHE practices.
- Incident reporting and minimized waste.
3. Customer Service (10%)
- Maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers.
- Represent the organization in meetings with stakeholders.
- Solve problems creatively while upholding company values.
Indicators: - High client satisfaction index.
- Minimized discrepancies and compliance with regulations.
4. Staff Supervision (10%)
- Ensure performance agreements are in place and conduct appraisals.
- Identify staff development areas and implement training plans.
- Address employee relations matters promptly and fairly.
Indicators: - HR procedures adhered to.
- Performance objectives achieved.
- Positive feedback from employees.
5. Cost and Financial Control (10%)
- Contribute to budget preparation and monitor expenditures.
- Ensure cost-effective use of resources and identify opportunities to reduce costs.
Indicators: - Timely budget input.
- Adherence to financial guidelines.
- Waste minimized and cost-saving initiatives implemented.
Section B: Job Specifications
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Certificate in a Technical Discipline or Maintenance-related field (NQF 5).
- Trade Test (NQF 5).
- Certificate in First Line Management (FLMP) (NQF 5).
Advantageous:
- Diploma in a Technical Discipline or Maintenance-related field (NQF 6).
Experience
Minimum:
- Up to 5 years of experience in Maintenance operations within a Manufacturing environment, with 12 years in a Supervisory role.
- Experience working shifts.
Advantageous:
- Up to 3 years of supervisory experience.
Technical Competencies
- Proficiency in MS Office, SAP, ERP, and other job-specific software.
- Knowledge of maintenance practices and manufacturing regulations.
