DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Power Generation Field Service Technician - Level II to join our team specializing in Service for our Distribution Business Unit in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways :
Efficient Repairs: By diagnosing and completing less complex repairs on generators and components, you'll ensure minimal downtime for customers.
Customer Engagement: Your courteous and professional interactions will enhance customer satisfaction and build strong relationships.
Proactive Service: Anticipating and promptly addressing customer needs will improve service efficiency and customer trust.
Specialized Tools: Using specialized tools and following procedures will ensure high-quality repairs and maintenance.
Preventative Maintenance: Performing scheduled maintenance will help prevent major issues and extend the life of power generation products.
Issue Escalation: Escalating unresolved issues to more experienced technicians or supervisors will ensure complex problems are addressed effectively.
Accurate Documentation: Completing necessary documentation accurately will support warranty claims, quality control, and service records.
Safety and Compliance: Adhering to Health, Safety, and Environmental policies will ensure a safe working environment and compliance with regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Power Generation Systems Knowledge: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cummins and industry standards, ensuring safe work practices and the ability to diagnose and repair power generation systems effectively.
Product Repair and Maintenance Skills: Be proficient in repairing and maintaining mechanical and electrical products, following guidelines and using the required tools to ensure high-quality repairs and a clean, organized work environment.
Engine Systems Interaction Understanding: Interpret and analyze the interactions between various internal and external systems (such as exhaust, heating, cooling, and fuel systems) to diagnose and repair issues accurately.
Technical Escalation Abilities: Efficiently gather and utilize technical issue information, escalate complex problems appropriately, and document all troubleshooting steps to ensure timely and accurate resolution.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ Experience:
Apprentice Certified Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Minimum Qualification: N2 Electrical. (Preferably - Millwright)
Locally valid driving permit
Basic level field service work experience
Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with of power generation products
High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience
Customer service experience
Knowledge of the Cummins Systems (InPower & Insite)
Computer Literacy - (Word, Excel & Power Point,…)
