A career opportunity for an Assistant Packhouse Line Manager is available at a dynamic agri-business located in the Western Cape!
In this role, you will play a vital part in optimising packhouse processes involved in fruit packaging for sale. You will supervise production teams, ensuring quality standards, cost-effectiveness, and efficient packaging sequences. The responsibilities include executing pack plans in the most efficient and effective way, communicating production targets and driving efficiencies to achieve them, investigating and resolving issues in the packhouse, and analysing data to improve operations. You will also implement effective stock control practices, track project plans against established targets, build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, and conduct regular performance reviews. Additionally, you will lead and manage staff and perform general administrative tasks.
The ideal candidate should have a relevant tertiary qualification such as Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or Operations/Production Management, along with at least one year of experience in a packhouse environment. Managerial experience and knowledge of fruit packing, as well as a technical understanding of production lines, would be advantageous. Familiarity with BRC, HACCP, food safety, and OHS regulations is a plus.
The position requires strong leadership skills with excellent communication abilities at all levels. Proficiency in English is a must, while isiXhosa as a second language would be advantageous.
