Business Manager - Liquor Store

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Business Manager to oversee the operations of our liquor store in Thaba Nchu. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing teams, strong labor relations expertise, and the ability to drive business growth while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management
- Ensure the store operates efficiently and meets sales and profit targets.
- Implement and monitor operational policies and procedures.
- Manage stock levels, ordering, and inventory control to minimize shrinkage.
2. People Management
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of employees to deliver excellent customer service.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and identifying training needs.
- Manage work schedules and allocate tasks effectively to ensure smooth operations.
3. Labor Relations
- Handle all labor-related issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievances.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies.
- Build a positive working relationship with staff and ensure a harmonious work environment.
4. Financial Management
- Prepare budgets and monitor financial performance.
- Analyze sales data and implement strategies to improve profitability.
- Ensure accurate cash handling and banking procedures.
5. Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to all liquor licensing laws and health and safety regulations.
- Manage risk by maintaining a secure and compliant store environment.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with company policies.
6. Customer Service
- Drive a customer-centric culture within the store.
- Address customer complaints promptly and professionally.
- Maintain high standards of store cleanliness and product presentation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in retail management, preferably in the liquor or FMCG industry.
- Strong background in people management with a focus on labor relations and conflict resolution.
- Proven ability to manage operational and financial aspects of a business.
- Proficiency in stock management, budgeting, and reporting.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Business Management, HR, or related field will be an advantage.
