About the role:
CLA is looking to hire a Controller for our Client Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) who can sit in our Southern California offices, preferably Century City or Pasadena. Our CAAS practice helps our clients transform their business with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs.
As a Controller, you will:
- Assist the accounting team to record complex transactions
- Review complex account reconciliations prepared by the accounting team
- Complete the monthly, quarterly, and annual adjusting and closing process.
- Adhere to the client's organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
- Provide detailed review of the general ledger, financial statements and required work papers
- Prepare work papers for the independent auditors, if applicable
- Analyze and interpret financial information and regularly present to the client's leadership
- Develop budgets, analyze variances and implement corrective actions as needed
- Review payroll and payroll tax compliance
What you will need:
- A BS degree in accounting or related field required.
- 6 years relevant work experience as a Controller or equivalent is required.
- Accounting back-office experience is required.
- Relevant experience in the Non-profit industry is preferred. Experience with Family Office accounting also a plus.
- Public accounting experience preferred but not required.
- CPA certification is preferred but not required.
- Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems. QuickBooks experience is preferred.
- Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc).
- Ability to travel to local client sites.

The wage range for this position is: $111,000 - $187,000
Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range.
