We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Special Process Specialist, Torque Tightening and Adhesive Bonding position under Industrialization . The position will report to the Special Process Manager and is based in Dunnottar .
Job Purpose: To coordinate the activities linked to the Special Processes (SP) of Adhesive Bonding and Torque Tightening during the phases of tender, development, product development, industrialization, and manufacturing till the warranty phase according to tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the SP Manager and/or Experts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to tender phase, especially in product design and industrialization to optimize costs and minimize risks.
- Contribute during specification and design phases to technical solution decisions associated with special processes.
- Build the SP REX and interact with product engineering to redirect the design if necessary.
- Manage industrial risk through Process FMEA and associated improvement action plan.
- Define requirements and rules for associated tooling necessary to start production.
- Qualify the product/process pair as well as industrial means to be put in place in line with the design.
- Support sourcing and SPQD teams in the suppliers’ qualification and in quality follow-up for suppliers.
- Contribute to development of local suppliers.
- Manage evolution of quality control process dedicated to SP.
- Ensure deployment and validation of new processes in line with project planning.
- Issue relevant documents in the Quality System.
- Train the workers and EPU managers to execute Adhesive Bonding and Torque Tightening related activities.
- Ensure continuous training and permanent qualification of the workers for Adhesive Bonding and Torque Tightening processes on site.
- Train support functions to business rules linked to Adhesive Bonding and Torque Tightening.
- Ensure continuous training and permanent qualification of the workers to Special Process.
- Train support functions to business rules linked to Special Process.
- Guarantee internal control and good application of process rules in line with customers’ requirements.
- Ensure day-to-day monitoring of SP business rules and solve issues concerning special processes.
- In case of non-conformity or incident, investigate root causes, find and implement repair solutions.
- Demonstrate QCD and EHS improvement linked to SP through efficient action plans.
- Support Sourcing and Supplier Quality teams during quality crisis.
- Participate in meetings and working groups of the SP network.
- Propose improvement ideas and evolution of the business rules of their domain.
- In case of major SP quality crisis, provide clear problem analysis to the project manager.
- Control external communication as it engages responsibility towards third parties.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Engineering N6 or equivalent.
- 3 years of work experience in the railway industry.
- Valid Special Process operator qualification in Adhesive Bonding and Torque Tightening.
- 2 years of unbroken service as a Special Process Adhesive Bonding and Torque Tightening operator.
- Knowledge of basic hand tools and special process tools and equipment.
- Risk Management - able to participate in P-FMEA, 8D, QRQC working groups.
- Ability to perform Adhesive Bonding and Torque Tightening destructive testing.
- Ability to perform non-destructive tests and visual tests.
- Ability to understand, read, and interpret engineering drawings.
- Ability to analyze defects in completion and compile process rework procedures.
Special Requirements: To carry out technical support and maintenance on a 24/7 shift and on-call basis (night, day, weekend).
