Inuka is working with a leading renewable energy solutions provider that specializes in accelerating access to reliable and affordable clean energy in high-growth markets. They develop, build, own, and operate renewable energy plants. Currently, the company has 4.4 GW in operation and under construction across four continents. The company is looking for a Project Developer (Wind) in Cape Town, South Africa, to join their global team dedicated to their vision of a better future. In this role, you'll oversee the development and structuring of Renewable Energy (RE) Projects, guiding them from initial opportunity to financial close. Your skills in transaction structuring, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration are vital for project success and construction commencement.
Responsibilities
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of the competitive landscape and regulatory changes.
- Facilitate project acquisition negotiations and manage transactions.
- Participate in compliant bidding for Request for Proposals (RFPs) from utilities and private off-takers.
- Secure project financing until financial close.
- Negotiate with potential development partners and maintain external relationships.
- Cultivate relationships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) globally and locally.
- Coordinate internal and external project development activities, including permits, agreements, and financing.
- Analyze market and policy support for renewable energy projects and develop strategies.
- Lead development teams of 10-20 members, including consultants and subcontractors.
- Expand the shovel-ready project portfolio, with a focus on onshore wind, but open to other technologies (e.g., solar PV, storage).
Qualifications
- University-level degree in Environmental, Legal, Commercial, or Technical field.
- 4-8 years of professional experience, ideally from Investment Banking, Project Finance/Operations, or top Global Management Consulting firms in the Renewable Energy (RE) industry or with RE Independent Power Producers.
- Working knowledge of PPAs, interconnection agreements, permitting requirements, and EPC contract terms (preferable but not required).
- Knowledge of RE Development Regulatory Framework in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa.
- Fluent in written and spoken English, with Afrikaans or other secondary languages as assets.
