A Specialist software development company situated in Somerset West is looking for a dynamic Junior Accountant to join their growing finance team. The company is committed to developing intelligent software solutions for the property management industry.
As a Junior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial records. You will be responsible for processing daily transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, assisting with client invoicing, and supporting month-end and year-end closing activities among other duties listed below.
Responsibilities:
- Process daily transactions of all business bank accounts in the accounting system with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Manage accounts payable by accurately recording and processing invoices, verifying expenses, and reconciling the supplier age analysis.
- Process and reconcile all business credit cards.
- Conduct cash and other balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Process adjusting journals at month end.
- Assist with the preparation of client invoicing for all product divisions.
- Maintain and reconcile accounts receivable, ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding payments and debtors suspension process, resolving discrepancies and queries promptly.
- Process and reconcile Netcash bank statements.
- Prepare weekly payment batches.
- Update insurance policy on new assets purchased and manage insurance claims process.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparation of Management Accounts and reports as needed.
- Prepare statutory tax returns, including VAT, Income Tax, and Provisional Tax.
- Contribute to process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the accounting function.
- Assist with the preparation of the annual external audit.
- Manage ad hoc projects, queries, and analyses as needed.
- Maintain positive stakeholder relationships.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 2 - 3 years of SAIPA / CIMA articles experience required.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Experience in working with Xero would be advantageous.
