We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety professional to join the HSE Team of a blue-chip in the telecommunications space. Working from their UK HQ in Greenwich, you will be the Senior HSE Advisor within a team of 4 on a major manufacturing site, successfully managing all health, safety and environmental matters at the Greenwich site.
Role Responsibilities
- Regular Inspections:
- Conduct regular safety and environmental inspections across all business units.
- Identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Internal and External Audits:
- Support internal HSE audits to ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
- Facilitate external audits, perform root cause analyses, and develop corrective action plans.
- Incident Management:
- Manage investigations into incidents and accidents, ensuring thorough analysis and reporting.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to mitigate risks.
- HSE Initiatives:
- Develop and implement HSE initiatives to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
- Engage employees at all levels in HSE programs and initiatives.
- Risk Assessments:
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for various processes and activities within the plant.
- Develop and implement control measures to mitigate identified risks.
- Environmental Management:
- Monitor and manage environmental aspects and impacts, including waste management and energy consumption.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
- Legal Compliance:
- Maintain an up-to-date legal register and ensure compliance with all relevant HSE legislation.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies as required.
- Health Hazards Monitoring:
- Monitor and manage health hazards such as noise and air quality.
- Implement control measures and conduct health surveillance programs.
- Emergency Response:
- Develop, implement, and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
- Conduct regular drills and training sessions to ensure readiness for emergencies.
- Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Lead and support safety specialists, HSE representatives, and the HSE committee.
- Foster a collaborative approach to HSE management across all business units.
- KPI Management:
- Develop and monitor HSE KPIs to measure performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Implement control measures and conduct health surveillance programs.
- Training Needs Analysis
- Identify HSE training needs and develop training programs for employees
- Ensure all employees receive appropriate HSE training and refresher courses.
Person Specification
- Degree level qualification in Health, Safety, Environment or similar
- NEBOSH Diploma/NVQ Level 5 qualification
- Cert/Grad member of IOSH
- Demonstrable years of experience in HSE position
- Working in high-risk environments such as, manufacturing, oil & gas, beneficial
- Able to provide evidence of leading HSE campaigns and initiatives to improve safety culture
- Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation
- Understanding of ISO 45001 & ISO 14001
