Job Purpose
The purpose of this position is for the incumbent to develop short, medium, and long-term integrated facility and space plans for the University. The incumbent is required to co-ordinate, manage, plan, implement and monitor infrastructure projects and programmes within the Infrastructure Development and Facilities Management department.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- A relevant Bachelor’s Degree or BTech in Engineering/Building and/or Project Management (NQF Level 7)
- Professional registration with built environment professional bodies such as Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP).
- At least five (5) year’s relevant experience with at least three (3) years senior project management experience
- A Valid Driver’s License
- Must have strong background within the built environment.
- Proven experience with construction contracts
- Proven experience in the procurement process of projects
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
The incumbent is to perform duties which include but are not limited to the following:
- Align and update Infrastructure Development Business Plan
- Provides inputs to Infrastructure Development Strategy
- Develop Annual budget for the institution Infrastructure Projects
- Provide overall guidance and direction with regard to planning and design facilities
- Prepare and submit reports to internal and external stakeholders when required
- Review actual expenditure in comparison to budget
- Forecast annual capital & operational expenses
- Develop and implement policies and procedures
Property Development
- Project manage Infrastructure Projects
Governance & Risk Management
- Achieve company standards on internal and external audits
- Comply with delegated authorities’ framework
- Ensure identification of project Risks & steps taken to mitigate
- Ensure adherence to institution policies & procedures
Stakeholders & Networking
- Forge & maintain strategic relationships
- Represent the company in the negotiations with external parties
- Maintain relationships with local, national and international Facility Management structures
People Management
- Manage individual & team performance
- Manage individual & team competence
- Manage the training and development of staff
- Ensure the implementation of the institution’s employment equity policy in all aspects of the university’s work
Change Management
- Implement and maintain change initiatives and programmes
Ad Hoc Projects

- Development and management of DHET Infrastructure Projects Pipelines, Accreditation, Processes and Reporting
