Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations: Oversee billing, A/R, A/P, GL, reconciliations, cost accounting, and revenue recognition processes, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
Financial Reporting: Prepare timely monthly management accounts with comprehensive analysis, highlighting key trends and variances.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop accurate budgets and forecasts, monitor performance, and provide insightful variance analysis.
Regulatory Compliance: Coordinate regulatory reporting, ensuring adherence to local government requirements and tax filings.
Technical Accounting: Research and resolve complex accounting issues, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations (IFRS).
Financial Close: Lead month-end and year-end close processes including assisting with the preparation of the annual financial statements, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
Internal Controls: Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial transactions and reporting, mitigating risk and ensuring data integrity.
Cash Flow Management: Manage working capital, prepare cash flow projections, and optimize cash flow to support operational needs.
Process Improvement: Design and document efficient business processes and accounting policies, driving continuous improvement.
Audit Support: Assist with the preparation of the annual audit file, ensuring a smooth and efficient audit process, liaise with the auditors and manage the audit process.
Costing & Pricing: Support costing and pricing exercises, providing accurate financial data to inform decision-making.
Additional Support: Prepare monthly journals, assist with cost-saving initiatives, contribute to B-BBEE compliance efforts and other tasks as they may arise.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Economics, ideally with a concentration in finance or a related field
1-3 years of experience in a role requiring quantitative analysis, financial modeling, or economic forecasting
1- 3 years in a data analysis or data science role with exposure to financial or business data
Experience with ERP systems, preferably Sage X3 or Sap
Experience within a manufacturing industry is preferable
Understanding of IFRS and South African tax and regulatory environment
Strong computer skills, including Sage or SAP and Microsoft Office Suite (intermediate to advanced Excel skills).
Proficient in using Google Sheets
Experience in developing and implementing business intelligence or analytics solutions preferable
Transferable skills to a finance role and strong numerical acumen
Proven ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights
Highly organized, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying financial information clearly to diverse stakeholders
Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all financial tasks
Demonstrated ability to design and implement efficient systems and processes, driving operational effectiveness
