Job title : Graduate Mechanical Engineer
Job Location : KwaZulu-Natal, Pinetown Deadline : December 28, 2024 Quick Recommended Links Job Description
- We require a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Pinetown. There are two potential roles to fill. Role A is independently running the Small Project Income Stream and role B is joining the Drafting and Processing side of our Goods Hoist income stream.
The largely independent small project role involves the following:
- Handling roughly 400 lift/elevator related small projects per year, some very quick and simple, some more complex. Some will primarily require admin, others will require problem-solving and design work.
- This income stream is our second largest and it is critical that it grows. To start with, the role will merely require you to look after our existing customer base and build a strong relationship with them, ensuring that they receive fast and accurate quotes and rapid solutions that work on the first attempt, despite receiving often incomplete and questionable information from technicians on various sites across the country. Once you have mastered the full scope of projects within this stream, including the larger ones e.g. those valued above R250 000, then the expectation will grow.
- In addition to this stream, nesting for our laser machine (including improving our nesting process once basic nesting has been mastered), releasing and refining repetitive production packs for components/items that we manufacture and then keep in stock, and potentially tracking the manufacturing of the small projects, and checking the output vs the customer's requirements.
The drafting and processing role involves the following:
- Producing drawings of our lifts for sign-off by architects/structural engineers/builders/end users. Initially only for standard lifts, but increasingly for more custom solutions, all in compliance with the applicable lift standard for that product.
- Producing the manufacturing packs that our factory requires to manufacture these lifts in accordance with the signed-off drawings. Again, initially only for standard lifts of roughly R300 000, but later for increasingly costly and custom units of R1 000 000, and perhaps, one day, the real outlier projects above R5 000 000.
- We do not require experience for either of these roles, but we do have a higher academic expectation for the drafting and processing role and will require a particularly strong academic history for it.
- In both cases, we require a B.Tech (Mechanical) as a minimum, or that you are currently studying towards that.
